Wait... Did I Not Tell You?

(enjoy this pic of me after my first day of work bc I'm a #workinggal)
Somehow during the blur of senior year, I failed to announce I'd be moving to New York in September to start my dream job at my dream company. So yeah, minor life update... I'm living in New York City now. My response to "you should start a blog" was always "what the heck would I talk about"... well, unfortunately for me (and for you too) I still don't know the answer to that question. So for now, I'll just tell you how I got here.

I applied for the Job last September. Thinking "there's no way I'm going to get it," I tossed my cover letter and resume into the pile stacked high with the accomplishments and qualifications of other twenty-somethings from around the world. We were all jumping at the chance to work for a company with three coffee machines, an honorary office dog, and a fully-stocked fridge with any and every drink you can imagine (I mean, the fact that Fortune named BounceX as the best place to work in tech was definitely a bonus... but I digress).

I got the initial screening call in November, and was immediately nervous. You know when you feel that little dip in your stomach because you got a text from the boy you've been crushing on? That's how I felt every time I got an email from Bounce... and it was TERRIFYING. The interview process was a blur, but before I knew it, I was being asked "do you want to start in June or September."

And well... here we are. It's sunday afternoon and I'm sitting in a coffee shop drinking an overpriced cup of coffee in mom jeans. And ya know what... I couldn't be happier. One week into my job and I can confidently say moving to New York City was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I'm surrounded by 320 of New York's brightest and funniest minds, and spend 8 hours of my day in an office with people who love coffee as much as I do. Being in New York won't be all roses though. There will be thorns and there will be times I sit back and wonder what I was thinking when I said "yes," but I hope I never forget how sweet and gracious God has been during the beginning of this new chapter.

So thanks for reading!! See you in a year when I decide to write another post!

Love,
Maelin
